Instagram is internally trying out a new feature called ‘Candid Challenges’ which is very similar to the concept followed by BeReal, a French social media app.

BeReal was launched in 2019 and is very popular among the Gen Z. The app prompts users to take a photo using their phone’s front and rear-facing cameras.

The whole point of the concept followed by BeReal is being real and honest on your social media which is seemingly something Instagram wants to achieve through 'Candid Challenges'. 

“This feature is an internal prototype, and is not being tested externally,” said Meta spokesperson Christine Pai.
