&lt;p id='p_1'&gt;The swift and surprise cross-border strike&amp;nbsp;in the Rawalkot area opposite Poonch sector that killed four Pakistani troops on December 26 was not Surgical Strike 2.0.&amp;nbsp;It was only a BAT (Border Action Team) operation, which is a very common occurrence at Line of Control, the de facto India-Pakistan border. Surgical strikes, like the one that happened in September 2016, need political clearance and happen across a comparatively larger area. BAT operations, on the other hand, are carried out very close to the border &amp;mdash; a maximum of five metres into the enemy territory. It does not require a clearance from PMO but is decided and executed at the local level.&lt;/p&gt;
