Bad news came for the BJP on February 1, as the BJP failed to win a single seat in Rajasthan by-poll.

&lt;p id='p_1'&gt;The Rajasthan by-election results have come as a major blow to the BJP. Taking together the Mandalgarh Assembly seat and Ajmer and Alwar Parliamentary seats, a total of 17 Assembly constituencies had gone to polls, and the BJP failed to win a single one. In the last elections, the party had won 15 out of these 17 seats.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p id='p_2'&gt;While the caste arithmetic worked against the party, the results also signal disillusionment with the BJP government at both the state and central levels. The discontent with the ruling party seems spread across the state&amp;nbsp;&amp;ndash; while Alwar is at the border with Delhi and Haryana, Ajmer is in central Rajasthan, and Mandalgarh is near Madhya Pradesh. Mandalgarh even had a Congress rebel in the fray, who polled around 40,000 votes. In his absence, the Congress's victory would have been even more comprehensive.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p id='p_3'&gt;The Rajasthan verdict, coming soon after the mellow performance in Gujarat, has rung warning bells for the BJP.&lt;/p&gt;
