The Nature's Wonder: Bioluminescence

Instagram is filled with pictures and reels of blue, glowing beaches under a dark sky. This glow is called bioluminescence.

This glow that you see is actually light produced by a chemical reaction within a living organisms.

Most bioluminescent organisms are found in the ocean. These bioluminescent marine species include fish, bacteria, and jellies. Some bioluminescent organisms, including fireflies and fungi, are found on land.

Looking at bioluminescence can be the most beautiful experience. However, these species are toxic so maintain a safe distance and no matter what do not touch them.

It is known for its bioluminescent light show. While you can stay in the boat, jumping in is encouraged since locals believes 'in the youthful magic of bathing'.

If you ever visit Havelock Island, there is a high chance that you could witness the blue-tinted seascape glowing and sparkling due to bioluminescence.
