IndiGo announces inaugural flights to and from the brand new Ayodhya Airport, becoming the first airline to operate flights, connecting it to Delhi and Ahmedabad.

The inaugural flight from Delhi to Ayodhya is scheduled for December 30, 2023, with commercial operations beginning on January 6, 2024.

Officially named Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram International Airport, it is currently seeing the final touches and will open to the public on December 30.

The airport is developed by expansion of the Faizabad airstrip by increasing the runway length to accommodate larger aircraft.

The Uttar Pradesh government signed a lease agreement with AAI in April 2022 for the transfer of 317.855 acres of land, marking an important step in the airport's development.

For now, the 6,250 sqm terminal building will handle 500 passengers during peak hours and can park 4 aircrafts. All of this will be increased.
