Oscar-winning actor Leonardo DiCaprio praised the Assam govt for its efforts that ensured zero poaching of the one-horned rhinoceros in 2022.

After DiCaprio's applause, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma extended an invitation to the actor to visit the Kaziranga National Park.
In a first since 1977, no rhinos were poached last year from Kaziranga, the world's largest reserve of the endangered great one-horned rhinoceros.

Poachers killed more than 190 rhinos in Assam between 2000 and 2021, but none was killed last year, according to data shared by Assam Police.
