Last week, Tumblr began buzzing about Goncharov, a supposed unfinished Martin Scorsese film.
With some claiming to have even watched Goncharov, cinephiles have a healthy dose of memes.
Clearly an Internet prank, even Scorsese jokingly confirmed that he directed the "lost classic".
The origins can be traced back to a Tumblr post displaying a shoe with a fake label.
Memers creating fake movies isn't a new Internet phenomenon. For instance, Jaws becomes Paws.
To mock white supremacy in Hollywood, there have been fakes like Ryan Gosling's Obama biopic.
More fake biopics include Christian Bale as Obama and even Anthony Hopkins as Nelson Mandela!
Parody website Nestflix even curates 'fictional movies in movies' and 'fake shows within shows'.
The website curates classics like Forrest Gump 2 and Hamlet starring Arnold Schwarzennegger!
