10 Tips To Beat The May Heat

The most simple and important rule of summer is to stay hydrated. So, water and more water!

eat light

Avoid heavy meals that make you feel sluggish. Summer is all about eating veggies & fruits with high water content like watermelon. Have salads & smoothies too.

cold compress

Take a wet washcloth or fill ice in a bag & apply it on your neck or wrists for some quick comfort in the blazing heat.

wear light, loose clothES

Stick to light colours and light fabric like cotton. Light colours don't absorb heat; and lightweight cotton clothes help the sweat evaporate.

summer skincare routine

Follow your summer skincare regime, depending on your skin type. Applying sunscreen and makeup products with SPF is a must.

take a lukewarm shower

Studies suggest that a lukewarm-water shower helps cool your bloodstream. Taking cold showers in summer, by the way, can make you feel even hotter.

Try staying cool with summer beverages such as coconut water, and fresh juices like orange and watermelon. Nimbu Pani (lemon water) is another option.

Feeling too hot? You can get immediate relief by dipping your feet in cold water. This will also help you relax.

eat something spicy

Spicy foods like hot chilli peppers contain 'capsaicin', a chemical compound that helps you sweat. And as your sweat evaporates, it helps you cool down.

avoid coffee or tea

Caffeine & nicotine can increase the body's core temperature. They constrict the blood vessels which then warm your blood make you feel hot & sweaty.
