World Lion Day is observed on August 10 each year. World Lion Day was first established in 2013 by Big Cat Rescue, the world's largest sanctuary dedicated to lions.

India is home to the last remaining population of Asiatic lions. These majestic creatures can be found in Gir National Park in Gujarat.
Approximately 800 lions are known to live in Namibia. While most roam about Etosha National Park, some live along the sun-corched Skeleton coast.
