Zero Box Office Collection Day 2: A lot of strategy went behind releasing the SRK-starrer, Zero, during Christmas. The film released on December 21 at about 4,380 screens and managed to earn Rs 20.14 crore in India. Is this an underwhelming performance? Yes, according to the trade analysts. Also, given the fact that this is an SRK movie, and SRK is all set to regain his box office magic, after Harry met Sally went kaput. The expectations from this Anand L Rai movie starring Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif were high.
However, all eyes are now on weekend figures, because Christmas weekends have always seen windfall at box office, and that’s why the last two weeks of a year are the most sought-after slots for releases. Rajinikanth’s 2.0 is now in its third week, and has earned Rs 184 crore. According to analysts, the film has exhausted its run, and is not actually a threat to Zero’s business. Kannada movie KGF Chapter 1, a historical action film set in Kolar Gold Fields (a mining region in Karnataka) released on December 21, along with Zero. Regional movies often do not pose any challenge to big-budget Bollywood releases. But KGF has been dubbed and released in Tamil, Telugu, Malyalam and Hindi, and has drawn somewhat attention from the audience.

On December 28, Rohit Shetty’s Simmba is scheduled to be released, which is apparently capable of eating into Zero’s numbers. Thus, the collection of this weekend will determine the run of the movie in box office.

Zero deserves a viewing just for so many new grounds it breaks within the mainstream . And then seeing all the Stars getting out of their comfort zones and pushing themselves by breaking the typecasts, breaking the expectations and not playing safe. I really liked the film .

Zero has received mixed response from critics and audiences. While SRK has been profusely praised for pushing the boundaries once again to don the role of a flamboyant dwarf, the plot of the movie has upset many. The industry is praising Katrina and terming her role of a 'wasted' Bollywood heroine 'Babita Kumari' as the best performance of her career so far. The music of the film has also been praised. The film also has a glimpse of the late actor Sridevi, where she plays Sridevi, as part of a Bollywood gathering. All this makes up hopeful for a bumper Zero Box offfice collection.
