Why did Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid break up? What we know so far
Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid’s relationship has hit the rocks yet again. The former One Direction member is being accussed of harassing the supermodel’s mother and RHOBH (The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills) alum, Yolanda Hadid. The ex-couple became parents to daughter Khai in September 2020. Yolanda and Zayn have previously had issues, a source informed TMZ, "Zayn felt Yolanda was acting like the house was hers and ignoring his position as the boyfriend of Gigi and father of their little girl and that Yolanda was posting photos of the baby, which pissed off Zayn because he felt privacy was vital."
WHAT HAPPENED: News of the altercation broke on October 28 with reports of Zayn ‘striking’ the former RHOBH star at his and Gigi’s house in Pennslyvania. Zayn, however, denied the fight, and told TMZ, “I adamantly deny striking Yolanda Hadid and for the sake of my daughter I decline to give any further details. I hope that Yolanda will reconsider her false allegations and move towards healing these family issues in private.” Gigi was in Paris at the time of the incident.
As per the TMZ-reviewed court doc, Malik allegedly “shoved her [Yolanda] into a dresser causing mental anguish and physical pain.” Malik has denied any physical contact with Yolanda and has pled no contest to the four charges of harassment. Court documents reveal that Zayn had called Yoland “‘f***ing Dutch slut,’ [and] ordered her to ‘stay away from [my] f***ing daughter’” among other verbal abuses. He also told Gigi over the phone to “strap on some f***ing balls and defend your partner against your f***ing mother in my house.”
After pleading no contest, Zayn was fined and is now on 90 days' probation for each count, totaling 360 days, reports TMZ. He also “must complete an anger management class and a domestic violence program,” and have no contact with Yolanda. Zayn has also been dropped by his record label.
QUOTE: Zayn Malik addressed the rumours in a now-viral Twitter statement. “As you all know I am a private person and I very much want to create a safe and private space for my daughter [Khai] to grow up in. A place where private family matters aren’t thrown on the world stage for all to poke and pick apart. In an effort to protect that space for her, I agreed to not contest claims arising from an argument I had with a family member of my partner’s who entered our home while my partner was away several weeks ago.”
He concluded his statement by saying, “I am hopeful though for healing and for all involved with the harsh words shared and more importantly I remain vigilant to protect Khai and give her the privacy she deserves.”
