On the occasion of International Women's Day, the social media has been flooded with campaigns aimed at empowering women. Google India launched #HerStoryOurStory. Twitter India also came up with Hindi hashtags on this occasion. While the day has been observed since the '90s, socialist and communist countries celebrated the day long before the UN adopted it in 1977. The United Nations decides a theme every year. This year, the theme is #PressforProgress.
Many women, however, do not approve of a single day for the cause of women empowerment. Here's what Indian women think of the day.
No equal world
I don’t think I agree wit the concept of Women’s day or any ‘day’ for that matter ???? we will never live in an ‘equal’ world if we need an actual day to feel special and appreciated! As far as I am concerned everyday is a Women’s Day,let’s go conquer the world everyday ladies❤️

Don't give up
Every step makes a difference when you believe in something strongly and do your bit. It might not show immediately but the results do create a ripple and an impact. To all the women fighting for what they believe in, don't give up !! Happy #WomensDay ????✨????

Take a step back
if ur first reaction to a young woman's success is to outline the ways she doesn't deserve it, take a step back and reevaluate ur own inabilities to raise yourself up.

More women in Parliament
On #InternationalWomenDay I hope we as a nation pledge to make women equal partners in society in word n deed. We need to see more women in parliament, academia n industry

Want no part of it
So tired of being asked to produce pretty sound bytes for #WomensDay2018 Here’s a tidy little byte for you: I think setting aside one day out of 365 to ‘celebrate’ women is a farce. And I want no part of it!

All people's day
I dream of a day when children ask 'why did you dedicate a single day to women'? A day our incremental gains and setbacks turn into a tidal wave of justice. So that everyday is women's day, all people's day. #WomensDay2018

Is the idea misled?
The idea is not to highlight gender but to move away from the thinking that gender is a boundary at all. #WomensDay
