US President Donald Trump's first overseas trip is turning out to be quite fruitful, especially for social media. While netizens are cracking up at the priceless pictures of Trump's meetings with foreign dignitaries, the latest picture (quite an awkward one) of the POTUS, first lady Melania Trump and daughter Ivanka with Pope Francis has sent Twitter into a virtual meltdown.
For his part, the POTUS looked his "chirpy" self, unlike Pope Francis whose (glum) expression said it all.
Of course, all that didn't escape the keen eyes of Tweeples, who turned the entire meeting into hilarious memes. Take a look.

Others focused more on Ivanka and the first lady's weird "funeral look". Incidently, it was also brought to notice by Twitter users that the two chose to "respect the Vatican's stringent dress code" while they ignored the same during their visit to Saudi Arabia where they met the dignitories without covering their heads.

But to be fair to them, the fashion faux pas was not entirely Ivanka or the first lady's fault. The Vatican's protocol dictates that women wear formal black "mourning clothes" with long sleeves and a veil during papal hearings, even though visiting dignitaries to the Vatican have used a trick to get around the rule or chosen to entirely ignore it.
This workaround called the "privilege du blanc". According to an explainer on the Vatican Insider website," the privilege of wearing a white dress during hearings with the Pope is only granted to Catholic queens or Catholic spouses of Kings."
Be that as it may, Twitter sure is glad the POTUS and family chose against using this workaround. Here's some more proof of the same.
