India celebrated its 69th Republic Day on Friday (January 26) with more than usual pomp and splendour. The occasion that marks India’s existence as a democratic republic for almost seven decades is indeed prideworthy. But do Indians realise the sheer weight of this particular day? Let us take a look at how Indians celebrated Republic Day in their own way, on social media.
Big celebrations and Big B. Well, Amitabh Bachchan celebrated Republic Day with - no prizes for guessing - his own photos, as always.
T 2594 - Watching Republic Day Parade in Delhi .. what a moment of pride .. tears welling up as the Army marches past .. memories of the early years in Delhi, when we would clamour for seats to watch the parade ! JAI HIND !!???????????????????????????????????????? pic.twitter.com/DH7WbbzJH1

As so did Ranveer Singh, Ravi Kisan and India’s “DJ Waale Babu”, Badshah.

And the Dutch EDM artist Hardwell, for some reason.

And Salman Khan just decided to wish everyone with a title of his own patriotic cinema.

Celebrities don’t change, so why should ordinary people?

As is with the news cycle, the Rajput Karni Sena had a special place, at least in everyone’s hearts:
The Republic Day Cartoon! Why does that goon look like Amit Shah though! ????????#RepublicDay pic.twitter.com/7Qyvd8rdzI

Republic Day tableau idea: Karni Sena members sitting in a big open vehicle, and school kids watching the parade get to throw stones.
— St_Hill (@St_Hill) January 25, 2018
One tableau for the R Day parade should just be a burning bus with people trashing stuff all around it.

Hope the Government will direct the Karni Sena to have their own float in Republic Day.. India should show its "cultural & militant strength" ???? https://t.co/feGXyQZlY0

But there were a few, who brought with them some reality checks.
It’s India’s #RepublicDay; it has banned internet and undeclared a curfew in #Kashmir. Nothing more can define the relationship between India and Kashmir.
— Faysal M (@_Faysal) January 26, 2018
What does India’s #republicday mean for #Kashmir:Once January starts, family panics when their children are out. Cos it’s ‘shatwuh January’.When it happens: There’s curfew, Internet is banned and some elders stare at the grand military parade on TV. And say ‘Toati ni kiheen’.

It'll be funny to see India showcasing their power on Republic Day to world while failing to protect school kids from Karni Sena.
