Rahul Gandhi, the scion of the Congress dynasty, was recently put on the spot. Prasenjit Kumar Basu, a Singapore-based economist and the author of Asia Reborn, decided to take him to task at a panel discussion in Singapore's Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy.
Basu made a commendable effort at trying to leave the Congress party president red-faced. But Gandhi, with his new-found popularity on social media - it seems to have added a good deal to his confidence - managed to make the most of it.
Between Basu’s tough question and another audience member’s more than visible Congress-fanboyism, Gandhi both answered and successfully evaded the question, and as a bonus, decided to take some potshots against the RSS and, of course, Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
