In the eyes of his supporters, PM Narendra Modi has quite the god-like persona. His larger-than-life personality and overzealous speeches have been able to evoke a kind of loyalty unlike anything seen in India's political landscape.
Modi added to his wn myth on Tuesday as by merely gesturing towards some people, he managed to save the lives of several cameraman and reporters.
Modi was speaking at the inauguration of the ambitious SAUNI water project, where, after pushing a button to start the release from the Aji-3 dam, the prime minister was appreciating the flow of the water underneath at the dam site.
"He suddenly noticed that several cameramen and photographers were standing on the downstream side. The strong flow of water released a little while ago was racing towards them and could have washed them away," deputy chief minister of Gujarat, Nitin Patel, said.
