Delhites have not had a great week.
Incessant rains have have the city to a grinding halt. Again. Road blockages have made life hell. Again. CM Kejriwal will blame PM Modi. Again.
Whichever government we have, the ability of India's biggest cities to basically drown themselves at the first sight of rain is remarkable. It really is the enduring heritage of our 70 years of "vikas".
Another person having a weird week in Delhi is the US secretary of state, John Kerry.
Kerry is in the national capital to meet with people, strengthen ties, make Pakistan jealous and create some nationalistic headlines along the lines of, "India's international image is improving under PM Modi. Look we got United States secretary of state to visit us."

Like who cares about human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir or the Dalit rights.
Right?
Well, Kerry is a cool chap and after his day was sabotaged by the rains, he reached late for his lecture at IIT-Delhi due to massive traffic jams. How could Kerry let go of finally venting out what has been simmering within - one chance, just any chance, to get back at the Indians, mildly of course. All in good humour, John Kerry basically made fun of our "vikas", and his prefatory joke with the IIT-Delhi students pretty much went viral online.

"You guys deserve an award for being able to get here today. I don't know if you came in boats, don't know if you took amphibious boats, but I salute you for being here," Kerry told the students at the institute.
Twitter agreed with the anti-national Kerry.

Maybe it's time we started buying boats in Delhi since the authorities responsible can't solve basic civic troubles! #DelhiRains

Under Duckworth-Lewis method, employees should be sent home to enjoy #DelhiRains over tea, pakoda & any other snack that goes with the mood.
