Kapil Sharma has carved a niche for himself in the Indian cultural landscape, making jokes, powerful friends and a potload of money.
Recent reports suggest that the 35-year-old comedy host takes home as much as Rs 60 lakh per episode.
In India, being on TV gets money and influence, and Sharma wielded his on Twitter Friday morning as he tagged PM Modi in tweets about corruption with the hashtag "achhe din". Kapil said it was sad that he had been asked for a Rs 5 lakh bribe by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for setting up an office even after he paid Rs 15 crore in income tax.

This lit up Twitter and the news cycle, quite expectedly, forcing a quick reply from Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis.
Kapilbhai pls provide all info.Have directed MC,BMC to take strictest action. We will not spare the culprit.@KapilSharmaK9 @narendramodi

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) asked Mr Sharma to make a formal complaint and name the officer who demanded bribe from him. Then the BMC fought back, saying that his office construction was illegal in the first place as they had issued a "stop-work" notice to Sharma but the work hadn't stopped.

And then the shower of unmentionables in the vernacular started, why because Kapil Sharma bragged about his income tax as if were King Khan. Who dangles the tax bills otherwise, if not to lament in utter and absolute state of inebriation?
And there are chutiyas like @KapilSharmaK9 who think just because they pay a little extra Income Tax, they own the country. @narendramodi

Yes, your language on a public platform suggests your unbelievably high IQ, sir.
Seems he paid 5 Lakhs and complained only when asked to pay more and harassed. Convenient https://t.co/ZkEtZs9U70

Every fact which embarrasses Modi govt should be reported quietly, privately. #KapilSharma https://t.co/hqm8nJdZgP

Now that's a piece of suggestion that should be archived for the future, and may be extracted with an RTI application, years on.
Kapil Sharma is going to do something tricolour/national pride themed in the next week to ten days.

Now that I think of it again, Kapil Sharma did the right thing. Once I had a problem with !dea, it was solved only after I tagged Birlaji.

Unfortunately for Sanghis, Kapil Sharma is not Muslim, Christian, Dalit; Or a woman to be trolled as a whore. Now searching family history..

*Can hear bhakts frantically type Kapil Sharma family on Google*
Why would you target Kapil Sharma for highlighting an age old problem? Imagine how tough it is for the rest. A good thing to have spoken out
— Ashwin Mushran (@ashwinmushran) September 9, 2016
Good thing to have spoken out? Good thing to have kicked the hornet's nest? Seriously, what are you, a rhino?
On a different note, may be we should tax people who show off their income tax. Don't let that tongue wag a bit too much. Hush, now.
