India’s Covid caseload has reduced significantly, after a peak during January end. Now, after a month, the country has logged less than one lakh cases in a day. India has recorded 83,876 fresh Covid cases in the past 24 hours. The country’s daily positivity rate stands at 7.25%.

1. LESS THAN ONE LAKH CASES
India’s single-day cases on February 6 is less than one lakh - a number the country hasn't seen since January 6. India reported 83,876 new Covid cases over the past 24 hours. There is a drop in the country’s positivity rate as well. While last week it was 12.03%, this week the positivity rate has dropped to 9.18%.
1,99,054 people have recovered from the virus and 11,56,363 tests were conducted on February 6.
Also, 895 deaths were reported yesterday.

2. ONE-SHOT SPUTNIK LIGHT VACCINE GETS EMERGENCY APPROVALS IN INDIA
The Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) has given emergency-use approval to the single-dose Sputnik Light Covid-19 vaccine.
Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya shared this news via a tweet on Sunday.
This is the 9th Covid vaccine that has been cleared for emergency use in India after Covaxin, Covishield, Vaczevria, Corbevax, Covovax, ZyCoV, Spikevax and Johnson & Johnson’s Ad26.COV2.S.

3. SCHOOLS TO REOPEN IN THESE STATES AND UNION TERRITORIES
Along with Delhi, schools in four other states reopened today. These four states are Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Odisha and Bihar.
Schools have resumed for Classes 9 to 12. Online classes will continue for the rest of the classes. In Delhi, online classes for Class 9 to 12 would also continue.

4. CASELOAD IN DIFFERENT STATES
DELHI: 1,410 fresh Covid cases were reported in Delhi over the past 24 hours. Currently, there are 8,869 active Covid patients in the national capital.
MAHARASHTRA: The state reported 11,394 new Covid cases yesterday.
KERALA: The state has been reporting maximum Covid cases since last week. Yesterday too, Kerala reported maximum cases in the country; with 33,538 cases, followed by Karnataka.
TAMIL NADU: In terms of daily Covid tally, Tamil Nadu is on the third position. The state reported 7,524 fresh cases on February 6.
5. FIRST NEEDLELESS COVID VACCINE IN BIHAR
ZyCoV-D, India’s first needleless Covid-19 vaccine was launched in Patna, Bihar, on February 5. ZyCoV-D is a three-dose vaccine that will be given at intervals of 28 days and 56 days.
On Saturday, India became the first country in the world to administer DNA vaccine against Covid-19. The approvals for Zydus Cadila's DNA vaccine were given earlier this year.
