There is a slight relief India’s daily Covid burden. India has reported 20% fewer Covid cases on February 1 morning than the previous day. The country reported less than 2 lakh cases this morning -- after a long period of time -- during the ongoing third wave.
A total of 1,67,059 fresh Covid cases were reported over the last 24 hours.

1. LESS THAN 2 LAKH CASES
As per the Health Ministry data, India has reported 1,67,059 new Covid cases in the last 24 hours. The country’s positivity has also fallen significantly from 15.7% to 11.6%.
But the death rate still remains worrisome. 1,192 fresh fatalities were reported in the country yesterday.
14,28,672 Covid tests were conducted in the last 24 hours. Also, 2,54,076 Covid patients have recovered from the virus yesterday.

2. CASELOAD IN DIFFERENT STATES
MAHARASHTRA: The state reported 15,140 fresh Covid cases yesterday, which is 7,304 less than the day before. Maharashtra currently has 2,07,350 active Covid cases. Over the last 24 hours, 39 people have succumbed to the virus in Maharashtra.
DELHI: Covid cases in the national capital have also fallen significantly. 2,779 fresh Covid cases were reported on Monday.
KARNATAKA: Karnataka recorded 24,000 new Covid cases on January 31. Bengaluru alone reported 10,000 cases yesterday.
3. MAHARASHTRA EASES COVID CURBS
Maharashtra has pulled down Covid curbs in 11 districts including Mumbai.
The 11 districts are Mumbai, Pune, Bhandara, Sindhudurg, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Satara, Sangli, Gondia, Kolhapur and Chandrapur.
4. 90% OF THE ADULT POPULATION HAS BEEN VACCINATED
On Monday at the start of the Budget Session, President Ram Nath Kovind while addressing the both Houses of Parliament said that around 90% of adults in India have received their first dose of Covid-19 vaccine and 70% have been administered both doses.
5. THE VIRUS REMAINS ACTIVE POST QUARANTINE
A recent study on Covid has revealed that some infected people can transfer the virus ever after the recommended quarantine period. The study has also mentioned that on average some patients took almost a month to test negative for the virus.
