A Chinese restaurant banned a food blogger from their all-you-can-eat BBQ. Why?
Unlimited delicious food at a buffet is a dream-come-true situation for every food lover out there. When all the delicacies are lined up beautifully, the foodie in you will definitely consume some extra calories. That's what a Chinese food blogger thought too. But alas. A barbeque restaurant in China banned this food blogger for eating too much at their all-you-can-eat-buffet.
Mr Kang, a Chinese food live-streamer told Hunan TV that he has been blacklisted by Handadi Seafood BBQ Buffet in Changsha city.
BANNED FOR EATING TOO MUCH! (That’s sad)
Mr Kang told Hunan TV that during the first visit, he ate 1.5 kg of pork trotters.
Later he ate 3.5-4kg of prawns in the other binge.
WAIT, THERE’S MORE TO IT…
Mr Kang believes that it is “discriminatory” against people who have a big appetite. He also believes that eating a lot should not be a problem as he didn’t waste any food. According to a BBC report, Kang's story went viral and received mixed reactions. It received more than 250 million views on Weibo, the Chinese equivalent of Twitter.
DID MR KANG TAKE CUES FROM THE SIMPSONS?
Quite familiar with the Simpsons’ story right? In the eighth episode of Season 4 of the American animated television series, Homer Simpson saw a television advertisement of an all-you-can-eat seafood restaurant. And how could Homer miss the opportunity? He went to enjoy all-the-food. After devouring nearly all the food in the buffet, he was hauled out.
After the-much-embarrassing moment, Homer sued the restaurant for false advertising!
THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STORY: Now, IRL, when Hunan TV questioned the restaurant owner about Mr Kang, he had a few points to make. "Every time he [Kang] comes here, I lose a few hundred yuan," said the restaurant owner.
Not just prawns and pork, the restaurant owner revealed, “Even when he drinks soy milk, he can drink 20 or 30 bottles.”
“When he eats the pork trotters, he consumes the whole tray of them. And for prawns, usually, people use tongs to pick them up, he uses a tray to take them all,” he added.
He also said that the restaurant has banned all live-streamers from the all-you-can-eat buffet.
LET HIM EAT: While you might be feeling sorry for the restaurant owner, banning someone from an all-you-can-eat-buffet for nothing but eating seems unfair, no?
