The Bihar School Education Board (BSEB) announced the class 10 results for exams conducted earlier in the year. The results were declared shortly after 1:30pm on June 22.
The class 10 exams were topped by Prem Kumar of Lakhisarai Government school with an impressive score of 93 per cent. The second place was secured by Simultala Residential School’s Bhavya Kumari who scored 92.8 per cent, while Harshita Kumari scored the third highest marks with a pass percentage of 92.
A total of 17,65,108 students appeared for the matric exams between March 1 to March 8, 2017. The overall pass percentage has been announced as 51 per cent, with many students getting grace marks. As per reports, the BSEB has granted 8 marks to students failing in one subject, while the ones failing in two have been given 4 grace marks.
This reported move comes after strong backlash after BSEB announced the Class 12 results earlier in the year. There were protests by the students who blamed the board for its strict marking which saw nearly 64 per cent students fail.
Apart from conducting these, the Board also conducts departmental examinations such as Diploma in Physical Education.
