It feels amazing to acknowledge that there is a day dedicated to pranking and fooling others. The first day of April is observed as April Fool’s Day worldwide. We all have pranked our friends in school with the silliest jokes. As an adult, the jokes have become lame and the day is all about Whatsapp forwards.
While growing up, we realise that life, people around us and the whole system have been fooling us irrespective of the day. As kids, we all fell prey to these. And now, we want to go back and tell our younger selves that: IT’S ALL A SCAM!
However, many of us are getting fooled even as adults and there is very little we can do about it. We often accept it and go with the flow.

If you are wondering what these are, let me give you a hard-hitting flashback.
APRIL FOOL’S DAY: 7 TIMES WE WERE FOOLED FOR NO REASON IRL
1. 12TH KE BAAD MAZEIN HE MAZEIN HAI
Every parent has said this, “Bas ye 2 saal padh lo, fir mazein hi mazein hai.” And after entering college, followed by the work world, we know it was the biggest lie ever.
All of us now know that those 2 years and the previous ones were actually the mazein hi mazein wala phase. Everything else is a mere struggle that we have to deal with every day.
2. COVID IS OVER, YOU DON’T NEED A MASK
Now, the world is getting back to the pre-Covid era. Many states in India have lifted all Covid norms.
But China is all set to repeat history. Cases of Deltacron have been reported by a few states in India. An IIT study has predicted the fourth wave in June.
Still, we see no-Covid banners instead of guidelines that can help the country prepare for the upcoming Covid wave.
3. YOUR FRIEND SAYING THEY WILL REACH IN 10 MINUTES
We all hate that friend but dost hai yaar, or like many say, beta hai mera kuch keh nahi sakte.
That friend who says "I am reaching in 10 minutes" is actually in bed while making such claims. So, beware!
4. GREEN TEA WILL HELP YOU LOSE WEIGHT
First of all, you should enjoy a good laugh after reading this. We all fell prey to this at some point or the other.
Remember the first impression of green tea? That bitter taste? Still, we all drank it daily, believing that it would help in weight loss.
Now, thankfully, there are enough studies to prove that green tea alone cannot help in weight loss. So, eat a balanced diet and burn enough calories each day to lose weight. Sip green tea only for the taste (umm, don't really know whether green tea and taste even go together), and other health benefits, NOT FOR WEIGHT LOSS.
5. MAGGI IS 2-MINUTE NOODLES
Our favourite Maggi is also on the list. They claim that the noodles are ready in 2 minutes.
Trust me, I have personally tried preparing it with different cooking methods and it is never done in 2 minutes.
The water comes to boil in 2 minutes; forget perfectly cooked noodles.
6. HR TALKING ABOUT WORK-LIFE BALANCE ON THE JOINING DAY
We are a victim of this as adults.
No matter how many policies they have for mental health, work-life balance and a stress-free environment; we get all the opposites as an unwanted gift.
7. FRIEND SAYING MAINE KUCH NAHI PADHA
Before an exam, when we are not well-prepared, we search for company. For that, we ask our friends, "Tu ne kitna padha." The reply is always the same, "Kuch nahi."
And then, that same friend is the first one to ask for an extra sheet and scores the highest marks.
So, students, don’t look for company. Just study.
