5 video games to wait and watch for

Gaming is a vast ocean of releases in which games sink or swim each year depending on who plays it but there are some games that seem to float by unnoticed. The best way to get these games noticed is by talking about them of course. Here are some games that are due to come out this year that you may not have heard about:

1. Outlast 2

Platforms: Mac, PC, PS4, Xbox One

Outlast was a hyped, celebrated little horror title that peaked at a time of Slender Clones. Nonetheless, the game faded into obscurity fairly quickly. Developed by the twisted minds at Red Barrel Studios, the game was a frantically-paced horror romp through a mental asylum that had people who played it cowering under their keyboards.

Outlast 2 promises to do more of the same, set in the same universe as the first game, but with different characters and a fresh new setting. It's sure to have you glancing over your shoulder as you feel the chills going down your spine.

2. Inside

Platforms: Xbox One (Timed Exclusive)

Limbo was the indie darling of 2010. Critically acclaimed and loved, this dark side scroller was practically the talk of the town when it came out. Playdead, the studio behind Limbo then went back to the trenches to work on another title and it has been six years and there is still no sign of Inside, the studio's next marquee title.

Inside has been delayed at least twice in this six-year period, which is sad because from what little we have seen of it, it looks every bit as good as Limbo was. Hopefully, it finally comes out this year.

3. Ghost Song

Platforms: Mac, PC, Linux

This haunting little Metroidvania side scroller first came to public attention via Kickstarter in August 2013 with a gameplay video that seemed to capture the tense atmosphere and action of the 2D Metroids almost perfectly.

It has been a while since then but the game is finally supposed to come out by the end of this year. Let's see whether it plays as good as it looks.

4. Ruiner

Platforms: Mac, PC, Linux

Set in the future, Ruiner is a Cool Cyberpunk Action RPG that gives us a glimpse of what the future may be if the worlds of Blade Runner and Ghost in the Shell collided.

The slick, neon dark alleys of Rengkok promise an exciting journey through an intriguing storyline.

5. Cuphead

Platforms: Xbox One, PC

Remember Steamboat Willie? Now imagine if the same art style was done in colour and put into a video game. That's exactly what Cuphead is. It is one of the most intriguing side scrollers on the list, purely on the merits of its unique art style.

The gameplay looks fun as well, challenging side scroller boss fights with tonnes of charm in the boss designs as well. Definitely one to keep an eye on.
