Wireless charging and bezel-less display: Everything we know about Mi Max 3

India's biggest smartphone vendor, Xiaomi, recently brought to the market two new phones, the Redmi Note 5 and Note 5 Pro. With over three lakh units sold within 10 seconds of its first flash sale, the two phones are looking like winners already.

The two devices bring with them above par internals and share a near bezel-less 5.99-inch display that makes 2018's Redmi Note lineup look more in sync with the current times. However, despite this, there are many who have stayed away from the Redmi Note series because it does not offer a big enough display. But looks like, Xiaomi's all set to capture that market too. Fresh reports indicate that the smartphone maker is all set to bring its next flagship "phablet" in the coming months.

According to reports, this successor to the Mi Max 2 will be bigger and better than its predecessor. Here's all we know about it.

Bigger display

The Mi Max series has always come out with phones that sport big displays. If reports are to be believed, the Mi Max 3 will look to carry the legacy forward by bringing the biggest display ever on a Mi Max phone. The phone upon its launch is rumoured to sport a 6.99-inch bezel-less display with a Full HD+ resolution.

In terms of technology, the display would not represent a massive jump over the screen on the Mi Max 2. However, the bigger size and the shift to a bezel-less design could very well see it becoming a fan favourite.

Upgraded internals

In terms of the internals, the Mi Max 3 is expected to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC. However, there are suggestions that Xiaomi may choose the 630 SoC to power the new phone. The rear camera on the phone is expected to either be a Sony IMX363 or a dual camera setup from Samsung.

On the front, expect the phone to sport a Samsung lens for clicking selfies. There are also suggestions that the front camera setup will also include an iris scanner.

Better battery life

The other big draw of the upcoming phone is expected to be its improved battery life. Though the Mi Max 2 came with a massive 5300mAh battery, the Mi Max 3 is being reported to do better in the department. The device is expected to come with a 5500mAh battery which could easily see the phone last two days without being charged.

There is no information on any kind of fast charging support with the phone, but considering the size of the battery, expect the phone to come with support for some sort of fast- charging technology.

Wireless charging and other features

Reports also peg the phablet to bring with it dual-SIM card slots and IR Blaster. However, the most interesting feature that the phone is being reported to sport is wireless charging. Xiaomi, till date does not have a phone with wireless charging capabilities, but that could change with the new phone which is expected to support with Qi wireless charging standard.

Wireless charging on the phone could mean the device may not bring a headphone jack, which to be honest, would disappoint many users.
