How to find your PF account number? These steps will help

Almost every working individual has a PF account. You might have noticed some PF deductions in your monthly salary. Yes, that money is going into your Provident Fund. Or PF, in short.

Your PF account is a government-managed savings account meant for your retirement, in which both the employer and the employee contribute. A set amount is deposited by both parties every month. It is a tax-free investment for working people.

To an employee, the PF amount might look like a deduction in their salary, but it is actually an investment. Moreover, a saving that you do side by side without any extra effort.

Where there are no efforts, there’s no attention, clearly.

Similarly, in the case of PF too, not many are aware of their PF account number. If you are one of those people, let’s solve the mystery for you.

Here’s how you can know your PF account number.

When you start working, your first-ever employer will make a PF account for you. So, a few days after joining your first job, you can ask the HR for your UAN ID.

UAN stands for Universal Account Number, allotted by Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO). This ID stays the same forever. This means, you need to provide this UAN number to your new employer to continue the deposit of the PF amount.

You can also find your UAN number on your salary slip.

But in case you can't access a salary slip, here is how you can find your PF number:

1. Go to epfindia.gov.in

2. Go to Services and click on 'For Employees'

3. Now, log in with your UAN ID

4. If you are a first-time user, you can activate your UAN here

5. Once logged in, you will see the 'Member ID' option

How to access your PF account on a regular basis?

The EPFO website offers you several facilities.

After activation, you can simply log in into the portal and know your PF balance.

You can also download your passbook. If you are a first-time user, it will take 6 hours for the portal to generate your passbook.

The website will also help check your PF claim status.

These step will help you access your PF account and get all the details you require.
