5 places to check out fashion NFTs and digital wearables

Are you fashion-ready for the world of Metaverse? Fashion has a new address - Metaverse. From big fashion houses like Gucci to fast fashion brands Zara and H&M, the industry is more than ready to cater to their customers in the virtual world as well.

But how does one shop for digital clothes?

You must have heard of fashion NFTs being sold for exorbitant amounts of prices. But expensive NFTs aren’t the only things on the market. So, you don’t have to be filthy rich to be able to jump on the next big internet trend.

First, it is necessary to understand the difference between digital wearables and fashion NFTs.

Digital wearables are clothes that your virtual avatar can wear, say in a game or a Metaverse platform. Some places also let you buy digital clothes that you can superimpose on real-life photos of yourself and share them on social media. These wearables can be purchased even without having a crypto wallet.

On the other hand, fashion NFTs are limited collections that can be only bought with cryptocurrency. They are often expensive and are mostly collaborations between NFT designers and big-name fashion houses. They are stored exclusively on the blockchain or your wallet.

Here are the 5 places to check out digital wearables and fashion NFTs:

1. THE DECENTRALIZED

The Decentralized is a fashion NFT marketplace. So, the NFTs you buy will be stored in your wallet or the blockchain, making them a traceable asset.

On some items, the makers have said that the physical items are not yet available.

But NFT owners are promised early access to physical goods when they arrive.

NFTs on this marketplace also come with AR experience on Instagram.

The price range is a bit high, starting anywhere above Rs 15,000.

2. DRESSX

DressX describes itself as the NFT marketplace for digital wearables. You can wear the digital wearables in AR and also in the Metaverse games.

While some items are on auction, some are on sale, and the prices are also on the higher end, starting above $200 (Rs 15,000).

3. ZERO10

It is an app that sells digital wearables and calls itself an AR fashion platform. You can buy digital clothes from well-known brands and designers, create a digital wardrobe, try on the clothes in AR, and show off the outfit on social media. Most of the items on Zero10 are free to add to your wardrobe.

4. ZARA

No, Zara has not yet opened up an exclusive platform for digital wearables or NFTs, but we wish that they did. However, late last year, Zara launched its first-ever digital wearable collection coupled with physical goods. In the women’s section, titled ‘Lime Glam’, Zara offered a few items which can be physically bought, and upon sale, you would also own a digital twin of the same item.

When it comes to the price, these digital wearables are quite affordable, ranging above Rs 2,000.

While the clothes from the collection are still available for purchase, the digital wearables offer has ended for now. But keep an eye out, perhaps Zara may come out with a new collection soon.

5. H&M LOOOP ISLAND

H&M has its own Metaverse space called H&M Looop Island on Nintendo’s popular game Animal Crossing: New Horizons. In late 2021, H&M launched a vegan collection of clothes on the game. You can perhaps keep a track of what’s going on at H&M Looop Island for new collections.

Fashion has always been about drama and in the Metaverse, designers have even greater creativity to explore the depths of fashion without the limitations of the practicality of wearing something. So, it’s time to throw on that dashing, unrealistic pair of trousers and go strutting on the street in Metaverse (umm, provided you have the money).
