Religious views within BTS

Historically, with the exception of RM, the group's leader, none of the members had publicly addressed their personal religious perspectives.

During a prior interview, RM revealed identifying as an atheist, although it remains uncertain whether his stance has since changed.

For the other members, fans have only speculated about their religious affiliations without any definitive statements.

ARMY's observations

Dedicated followers of BTS, known as ARMY, closely monitor the members' activities, leading to the following observations:

Jungkook attended the School of Performing Arts in Seoul (SOPA), an institution with a Christian emphasis that includes compulsory services and Bible classes. Some ARMYs also noted Jungkook engaging in the practice of praying before meals, a custom often associated with Christianity.

Additionally, Jungkook performed a rendition of the Christmas song "O Holy Night," which features lyrics pertaining to the birth of Jesus Christ.

Jungkook has been seen wearing a Mala beaded bracelet, commonly linked to Hinduism and Buddhism and utilized for meditation.

Fans have even speculated the possibility of him being Muslim.

Jungkook's religious clarification

During a recent Weverse Live session, Jungkook openly discussed his religious background and clarified that he does not align himself with any particular religion.

He shared that while his father's side follows Christianity, his mother's side practices Buddhism.

I don't have a religion. My father's side is Christian, and my mother's side is Buddhist. But for us (children/younger generations)… We don't really have religions. There wasn't any pressure for us to have a religion, either. Therefore, I don't have a religion.

Um…Settings…I don't know what this is, but I better turn it off quickly. Haha. Bye! Goodbye! I was just checking it out because I was curious.

Subsequently, Jungkook conducted a live session on Weverse, expressing his preference for ARMYs not to send him gifts using GIFs and filters on TikTok due to their associated costs. He emphasized:

Don't send them on TikTok. Use it to buy yourself some yummy foods. I don't know how much it is but don't send it. Maybe I shouldn't do TikTok Lives. Anyway, I'm not feeling the best. But I came here because I missed you all.

Lately, Jungkook has been an unpredictable delight for ARMYs, and his new ad for Calvin Klein was another surprising addition that caught fans off guard.
