Among the BIMSTEC leaders who will attend the ceremony are:
1) Bangladeshi President Abdul Hamid
2) Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena
3) Prime Minister of Nepal KP Sharma Oli
4) Bhutanese Prime Minister Lotay Tshering
5) President of Myanmar U Win Myint
6) Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth
7) Thailand's Special Envoy Grisada Boonrach
8) Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov There are huge speculations around which leaders will be included in the Modi Cabinet.
Pakistan will be conspicuous by its absence but despite Pakistan's PM Imran Khan ringing PM Modi to congratulate him on his handsome victory, an invitation to the neighbouring nation was not forwarded. This is in stark contrast to PM Modi's first swearing-in, which was attended by then-Pakistani PM Nawaz Sharif.
This evening, as reports suggest, many National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leaders too would find ministerial berths. The BJP will have to accommodate NDA leaders to keep its regional alliances strong in states like Maharashtra where Assembly elections are due this year. Among the top contenders for ministerial berths from the BJP itself, the names doing the rounds currently are Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Sushma Swaraj, Smriti Irani, Nitin Gadkari and Piyush Goyal.
