Delhi polls: Ten reasons why I would vote for Arvind Kejriwal

1. Aam Aadmi connect: Arvind Kejriwal breaks all the tailor-made patterns of how a neta should "act" and "behave". We see him staging dharnas in the simplest of attire, commonly worn by the aam aadmi of India. There are no shenanigans when it comes to his appearance on stage. He doesn't dress up like a marketing professional, all geared-up for delivering a PowerPoint presentation. He dresses straight and talks straight.

2. Apologised for poor strategic decisions: Resignation from the Delhi chief minister post is the only blot on Arvind Kejriwal's political graph. This is nothing more than a strategic mistake which may happen in the adrenaline rush of politics. We see the ex-Delhi CM with a bowed head and folded hands, approach the enraged people whenever he's around them. Name any political leader who has let his guard down and apologised this profusely, again and again, using different media! (Read: The AAP radio spots.)

3. Brought major issues to light: We don't have any rock solid reason for doubting Kejriwal. Delhi knows he would do anything to uproot the ingrained mushrooming of corruption. His political party is called the "Aam Aadmi Party" for a reason after all. He is crystal clear on one point: Work for the common man or get kicked out. Period. The transparent functioning of the AAP will be a relief in the age of ghar wapsi and love jihad.

4. Proper budgeting: The AAP may raise funds from dinners or tea-parties, it makes every expenditure detail public, on its official website. What we don't know is where do the BJP and the Congress access their funds from? If there's any backdoor entry of money supply, the return on investment would also go out the backdoor, right? Now we know, why the other political parties are against bringing the election funding under the RTI scanner, as proposed by Kejriwal's party.

5. Unexpected support from the Congress: If we recall, the AAP had never asked for the Congress' support. The Congress had already taken the initiative and informed the lieutenant governor about its decision.

6. Intent wins over inexperience: We saw what the "experienced" Congress party did to both Delhi and the country. Now that we're discussing experience, will someone please show me Kiran Bedi's CV on running an administration? Kejriwal certainly seems the better bet for the upcoming Delhi polls.

7. Real meaning of AK-49: Let's talk about those 49 days. Arvind Kejriwal made 666 litres of water free and slashed the electricity cost up to 400 units into half. This had the subsidies cross the figure of Rs 200 crore and in turn translated into a lot of revenue. It's ironic how a 714 crore rupee-spending BJP and Rs 500 crore-investing Congress in the General Elections of 2014, talk about the irrelevance of subsidies.

8. Clean dialogue: I'll vote for a candidate like Kejriwal as he's ready to face the big battle for Delhi's top job with his upfront and razor-sharp public address. I've never seen him shoo away from the heated environs of the election arena. Probably, we'll see him knockout other contenders this time too.

9. Struggle must be rewarded: The AAP is a greenhorn when compared to the BJP and the Congress. The beauty of a democracy is that it allows us to elect our representative at the end of every five years. On being chosen the Delhi CM, again, if Kejriwal doesn't do the needful, we always have an option of dethroning him in the next Assembly elections.

10. Shocker for the electricity companies: Kejriwal never once said that the cost of electricity was high. He rebelled against the corruption rife in electricity companies. That's why he ordered a complete audit of all such companies: something which the Congress wasn't able to achieve in its decade old rule.
