The suspense over the new Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh is finally over. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced Mohan Yadav as the man to take charge of the state.
He was serving as minister for higher education in the outgoing Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's cabinet
This marks the end of Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s era, who had ruled for the longest time as CM of Madhya Pradesh.
- Born in Ujjain in 1965, Mohan Yadav has been a legislator of the Madhya Pradesh assembly since 2013.
- He won the Ujjain Dakshin (South) seat for the first time in 2013. In 2018, the party fielded him again from the seat, and he won it once more.
- In 2020, when Shivraj Singh Chouhan became the CM for the fourth time, Yadav was included as a Cabinet Minister in Chouhan’s government.
- In the 2023 elections, Mohan Yadav successfully defended his seat for the third time, defeating Congress candidate Chetan Premnarayan Yadav by more than 12,000 votes.
- Yadav holds educational qualifications in BSC, LLB, MA, MBA, and PhD.
- He is married to Seema Yadav, and the couple has two sons and a daughter.
- Yadav’s family expressed joy after his name was announced as the next CM of Madhya Pradesh. “Our joy knows no bounds. Yes, his name was doing the rounds, but we didn't know it exactly. God has given him the fruits of his hard work,” ANI quoted Yadav’s sister.
- Mohan Yadav was associated with the BJP since 1984 but started his political career in the state government in 2013.
- Former CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan, along with other party leaders, handed over a bouquet to Yadav after his name was announced.
