In a scene straight out of a horror movie, an amusement park in North Carolina, US, closed one of its rollercoasters for repairs after a significantly large crack appeared on its support beam.

What

Remember the rollercoaster massacre in Final Destination 3 (2006)? Carowinds, an amusement park in Charlotte, North Carolina, US touched the very last step before it quickly dwindled into the movie IRL.

Carowinds had to shut down its 'Fury 325' rollercoaster after a large crack appeared on one of its supporting pillars while a ride car was on track.

How it was discovered is even scarier. A video surfaced on the Internet which showed the crack on the support pillar during a ride, and how the pillar swayed out of the cracked joint each time the rollercoaster car drove by.

After inspection, the park authorities announced that they would close “The tallest, fastest, longest giga coaster in North America”, AKA Fury 325, till it was safe for functioning.

“Safety is our top priority and we appreciate the patience and understanding of our valued guests during this process,” Carowind officials said in a statement.

But, this is hardly a first.

One doesn’t really walk inside an amusement park with an idea or vision of something going horribly wrong. However, some reasons like malfunctions, passengers not abiding by rules, freakish accidents, etc, have resulted in some of the most horrifying tragedies at amusement parks.
