After a four-year wait, Tesla has commenced deliveries of its highly anticipated Cybertruck, overcoming delays and challenges.

During a delivery event held at the Austin, Texas factory on Thursday (November 30) CEO Elon Musk showcased the electric pickup's standout features: towing capabilities, bulletproof doors, and impressive straight-line speed.

Price and features

  • The long-awaited Tesla Cybertruck is now priced at $60,990, marking an over 50% increase from CEO Elon Musk's initial 2019 estimate.
  • Analysts foresee this pricing strategy targeting specific affluent buyers.
  • Musk highlighted the truck's inspiration, derived from the shiny stainless steel construction and flat planes, drawing from a car-transformed-submarine featured in the 1977 James Bond film 'The Spy Who Loved Me,' according to Reuters.
  • However, the Cybertruck's unique body material and unconventional futuristic design have led to production challenges and increased costs.
