India’s 1983 World Cup winning hero Roger Binny is all set to replace Sourav Ganguly as the new BCCI President. Ganguly, who held the post for the past three years, will make way for Binny on October 18 at the Board of Control for Cricket in India's Annual General Meeting (AGM).
What will be the changes in the BCCI? At the AGM on October 18, there will be few changes in the governing body.
A look at Roger Binny's career: The former allrounder is most famous for his role in the final of 1983 World Cup against West Indies. Binny took the prized wicket of West Indian batter Clive Lloyd. He was also the leading wicket taker in the tournament with 18 wickets.
Binny was given hint about the new post when Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) named him as its representative at BCCI AGM instead of secretary Santosh Menon.
What about Ganguly? Earlier, it was reporter that Ganguly was interested in running for the BCCI President's role for the second term but he was told that there is no precedence of giving a second term to the Board President, reported PTI.
On October 18, there will also be no elections as all the candidates will be elected unopposed.
