Hailing from Boulder, Colorado, USA, Magnus White had earned a strong reputation as a "rising star" in off-road cycling, emerging as one of the most prominent and accomplished names in his category of the sport.
White was preparing to compete in the upcoming cross-country discipline at the junior Mountain Bike World Championships in Glasgow, Scotland. The event he was training for when the unfortunate accident occurred, resulting in the loss of his life due to a collision with a vehicle near his training spot.

According to the Colorado Highway Patrol and a report by The New York Post, White was riding south on Colorado State Highway 119, wearing a protective helmet during his training run on his cycle.
A 23-year-old Colorado woman, driving a Toyota Matrix, unexpectedly veered onto White’s lane from the right lane and collided with White's bike from behind. The collision caused White to be thrown off his bike, while the Toyota continued off the road and down an embankment before coming to a stop after hitting a fence.
White was rushed to the hospital but, tragically, succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead. The driver of the Toyota was reported to be unharmed.
