Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed concern over the civilian casualties in the ongoing Israel-Hamas War in the Gaza Strip. He "strongly condemned" the violence, emphasizing the need for a united voice from the Global South on critical matters.
Modi, during his keynote address at the virtual Voice of Global South Summit, also reiterated India's condemnation of the October 7 attack on Israel by Hamas.

“We are all seeing that developments in West Asia are giving birth to new challenges. India has condemned the dastardly terror attack on Israel on October 7. We urged for restrained response along with dialogue and diplomacy. We strongly condemn the death of civilians in the Israel-Hamas conflict.”
- In his remarks, PM Modi also highlighted India's humanitarian approach to the crisis, mentioning the country's swift response to the Palestinian cause.
- "After speaking to President Mahmoud Abbas of Palestine, India sent relief material to the Palestinians," Modi added. This aligns with India's commitment to supporting nations facing crises.
Partnership on AI
- Another important piece of information revealed by PM Modi was India's initiative to host a global partnership summit on Artificial Intelligence next month.
- The summit would aim to promote the responsible use of technology and bridge the gap between developed and developing economies, he added.
- PM Modi also emphasised the importance of minimising disparities, stating,
"New technology should not become a source of creating distance between the North and the South. In this age of AI, it is necessary to ensure responsible use of technology."
DAKSHIN
- The Prime Minister also inaugurated DAKSHIN (Development and Knowledge Sharing Initiative) - Global South Centre for Excellence.
- This initiative signifies India's commitment to knowledge-sharing and development cooperation within the Global South, he added.
PM Modi concluded by urging countries of the Global South to unite for the greater global good, stressing the importance of solidarity in addressing contemporary challenges.
