Remember Rashmi Samant? You probably can't recall. In 2021, Rashmi Samant from Udupi was supposed to become the first 'Hindu' Indian student to hold the position of Oxford University Students Union President. But she was forced to step down after a series of racist, anti-Semitic and transphobic remarks made by her were uncovered.
Despite giving an apology letter to Oxford University for her remarks, Samant later went on to claim to the Indian media that she was denied her position because of racism and Hinduphobia.

At 22 years of age, as the first Indian Female President of the Oxford University Students Union, my historic election victory rapidly transformed into a distressing nightmare of bullying, harassment, & threats. It was declared that… pic.twitter.com/yWcoUYM9C4
When Rashmi resigned, I ran, was elected, and served a successful term as an Indian Hindu President of Oxford University Students Union.

Racism exists in Oxford, but Rashmi was not bullied because of her race, religion, or nationality. This novel propagates a false narrative. https://t.co/V8YqG3nGWH
People like Rashmi Samant and Karan Kataria are good examples of how a large section of Indians abroad are sympathetic to Hindutva back home. Rashmi also spread misinformation about the riots in Leicester and tried to paint British Muslims as instigators of the violence.

Rashmi Samant was usurped after her old transphobic and racist posts were discovered. I wonder if she has justified it here saying - " So aren't SE Asians - ching chong " or "transwoman are not woman". https://t.co/8bphxJqNDQ

There are two people who wrote apology letters to England officials.

One Savarkar, another one Samant Rashmi 😂😂😂
Writing apology to England is just as easy as breathing for few souls🤦🏻
Note- she wrote apology letter to Oxford university for her racist remarks in the past. https://t.co/9AibLyqAGK
Rashmi Samant on Odd Day - let's feed on others' vulnerability.

Rashmi Samant on Even Day - How dare you make me feel vulnerable.
I guess education at Oxford does not help one with internalised hatred.
When bigots like rashmi samant are able to make their way to universities like Oxford and win student union elections there, it really makes you question the merit it takes to get into the world's top universities.

Why get religion into this
— Rebel (@RebelloAnil) August 7, 2023
Replaced because of what?!
Btw, why make this about religion or nationality when the reasons they made you step down were different and a another Indian was in place
Rashmi Samant claims that she was forced to step down because "Oxford students are not ready for a Hindu President". However, Samant was forced to resign after students at Oxford University raised objections against her racist and insensitive remarks made on social media.
In 2021, the Oxford India Society, Oxford University Hindu Society (HUMSoc), and Oxford South Asian Society made a statement calling the narrative put forth by Rashmi Samant on her resignation to be untrue.

They said that while they recognised the institutional racism prevalent at the University, they also clarified that Samant was not asked to resign for issues related to racism, her religion, or her nationality.
Rashmi Samant's whole campaign following her forced resignation was to paint the narrative that Oxford University did not allow her to become the President of the Student Union because she's Hindu and an Indian. However, those charges don't seem to hold any veracity given that her successor was an Indian Hindu.
In fact, Samant wasn't the only candidate who was accused of racism in the 2021 elections. A frontrunner Pierce Jones also had to drop out of the race after allegations of racism were made against him.
