Kolkata customs' officials apprehended a passenger on Sunday (January 8), who was scheduled to fly to Bangkok with $40,000 (Rs 32 lakh) concealed in numerous sachets of paan masala!

The packets were sealed with each of them carrying two neatly folded ten dollar bills and some traces of powdered substance (most probably the paan masala itself). More details regarding the money is yet to be revealed, but the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) had alerted the customs department soon after the flier was done with the immigration process.
Suspicions arose when his check-in baggage was searched. A suitcase filled with several packets of Shudh Plus paan masala was recovered. While the apprehended passenger is yet to comment on his intention, Shudh Plus stocks might go up!
