An Indian student, aged 24, is in critical condition after being stabbed with a knife in Indiana, USA, reportedly by an assailant who found him to be"a little weird," according to media reports.
What happened?
- Varun, the 24-year-old Indian student, was attacked with a knife by 24-year-old Jordan Andrad at a public gym in Valparaiso, Indiana, on Sunday morning, as reported by PTI, quoting NWIU Times.
- The authorities are currently investigating the motive behind the attack.
Aftermath of the assault
- Following the assault, the perpetrator, Jordan Andrad, was apprehended and is now facing charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and attempted murder.
- According to the report, "Varun was attacked with a knife by his assailant and was subsequently transported to a Fort Wayne hospital due to the severity of his injuries. He has been given a prognosis of a zero to five per cent chance of survival. Varun remains in serious condition following the violent incident."
Assailant found the victim 'weird'
- Jordan Andrade informed the police that he had requested a massage that morning and upon entering the massage room, encountered an unfamiliar man whom he perceived as "a little weird."
- Andrade claimed that he believed the individual posed a threat, prompting him to react in what he deemed the "right way," as stated in a charging document. The police further noted that "Andrade then described (the man) as a threat to him, and so he 'just reacted' accordingly."
