German-Israeli woman Shani Louk is alive in Gaza hospital but critical, says mother in new video

Shani Louk, the 22-year-old German-Israeli woman who was present at the Tribe of Nova party in the northern Negev in Israel on October 7, Saturday, is believed to be alive, her mother said in a new video.

A video of Hamas militants, parading what was initially believed to be Louk's naked corpse in the back of a pickup truck, had earlier gone viral.

Shani Louk's mother, in the new video, said that her daughter is alive but in a critical condition in a hospital in Gaza. Louk's mother has called on the German government to help get her daughter back home safely.

What happened

  • Shani Louk, a tattoo artist, was last seen dancing at the Tribe of Nova party last weekend before Hamas fighters attacked the music festival, and killed at least 260 revellers and left countless others injured.

  • The rave was held in a dusty field outside of Kibbutz Re’im, about 5.3 kilometres from the wall that separates Gaza from southern Israel.
  • Louk's family in an interview with German news outlet Der Spiegel, said they had received information from her bank that their daughter's credit card had been used in Gaza on October 8, Sunday.
