The flight, Flight 194, was already two hours into the journey when the pilot was instructed to turn back because of the diarrhoea-stricken passenger.

''This is a biohazard issue. We've had a passenger who's had diarrhoea all the way through the airplane, so they want us to come back to Atlanta," said a cockpit transmission from the pilot to the air traffic control.

Who was the passenger?

  • The individual who was accountable for this entire incident remains unidentified to this point.
  • Following the return to Atlanta, the plane underwent a thorough cleaning, permitting the flight to complete its planned trip the next day.

Flight authorities on the incident

The flight authorities, on the other hand, said that they were quick to get the entire situation under control.

"Our teams worked as quickly and safely as possible to thoroughly clean the airplane and get our customers to their final destination. We sincerely apologise to our customers for the delay and inconvenience to their travel plans."
- Delta Airlines in a statement on the issue

First blood, now faeces

The incident comes only a couple of months after a passenger on an Air France flight, found a 20-inch long blood stain on the floor below his seat.
