Bollywood producers get together to raise funds for Yeh Ballet’s Achintya Bose

Achintya Bose's journey towards becoming a prominent figure in the realm of art education is marked by the companionship of established luminaries such as Sooni Taraporevala, Siddharth Roy Kapur, and an encouraging mother.

The story of Achintya

When pondering upon 22-year-old Achintya Bose's narrative, the word "miracle" swiftly comes to mind.

Hailing from Calcutta, Achintya Bose has garnered significant acclaim for his remarkable portrayal of ballet dancer Asif in Sooni Taraporevala's film 'Yeh Ballet'. He also serves as a Youth Ambassador for ARDEA, an international nonprofit organization dedicated to rural development through diverse forms of support.

While his educational journey commenced at Delhi Public School in New Town, West Bengal, his path has now led him to the illustrious California Institute of Arts in Santa Clara, USA—a testament to his tenacity and talent.

Achintya's passion and flair for dance found their perfect expression when he was presented with an opportunity that altered the course of his life, as revealed by Sooni Taraporevala herself.

The indelible mark of astonishment was hard to miss when Achintya's mother recounted his initial reaction to the offer for 'Yeh Ballet'.

It took a series of discussions and persuasions before he accepted the role of Asif, and his journey has been on an upward trajectory since.

This talented 22-year-old has also ventured into modeling and has a role in an upcoming web series scheduled for release next year.

Fundraiser event 

Siddharth Roy Kapur , in collaboration with the ARDEA Foundation, hosted a special fundraiser event at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi for Achintya's journey for knowledge to CalArts. The event aimed to generate academic funds for his educational pursuits. Distinguished directors, filmmakers, and personalities graced the occasion to extend their support to Achintya as he embarks on his new journey.

The film's director, Sooni Taraporevala, accomplished Indian-American filmmaker Mira Nair and Assamese filmmaker Bhaskar Hazrika were also among the notable attendees. Their presence lent an air of distinction to the event.

Achintya's journey was beautifully showcased through a special dance performance, mirroring the routine that secured his selection for the esteemed CalArts program in California, USA. The dance performance was followed by a screening of the film 'Yeh Ballet', accompanied by an engaging Q&A session.

About Yeh Ballet

Directed by Sooni Taraporevala, 'Yeh Ballet', a Netflix film, narrates the inspiring real-life tale of Mumbai's Manish Chauhan and Amiruddin Shah. Their journey from the challenging circumstances of the slums to pursuing their passion for ballet and earning scholarships to the esteemed Oregon Ballet Theatre School in the US is at the heart of the film.

While Manish portrays his own character, Nishu, in the movie, 19-year-old Achintya brilliantly brings Amir—now training at the Royal School of Ballet in London—to life on the screen.
