Bhojpuri star Akansha Dubey found dead in Varanasi. What we know so far

Model-turned-actress Akansha Dubey was found dead in a hotel room in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. The Bhojpuri star was 25.
Even though Dubey’s body has been sent for post-mortem and Uttar Pradesh Police is investigating the case, the primary cause of death has been reported as suicide for now. However, no suicide note has been procured from the scene.
According to PTI, the hotel staff found Dubey hanging from a ceiling fan inside the room, following which the local police was alerted.
Who was Akansha Dubey?
Dubey is a Bhojpuri actress who served as lead heroine in recent Bhojpuri productions like Kasam Paida Karne Wale Ki 2, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi and Veeron ke Veer.
Born in Vidhyanchal, Mirzapur (UP), her family moved to Mumbai when she turned three. Even though her parents wished for her to become an IPS officer, Dubey found her calling in the Bhojpuri film industry. Before beginning her acting career, the Instagram and YouTube celebrity was also a common face in Bhojpuri music videos like Qamar Ek Number, Raja Jawan Hum Laika, and Kamariya.
What did Akansha Dubey do before her death?
Dubey’s official account on Instagram had amassed 1.7 million followers. A day before her death, Dubey had uploaded an Instagram reel of her dancing to a Bhojpuri song with her post’s caption reading “Just try”.
The actress, who was in Varanasi for shooting a new film, was even seen crying on an Instagram live session. However, she didn't specify the reasons behind her emotional breakdown. Some Twitter users who recorded snippets of her live session speculated that Dubey was also trying to ring up someone but they were not responding to her calls.

How is the Bhojpuri film industry responding?
Bhojpuri film stars Rani Chatterjee and Vinay Anand took to Instagram to convey their condolences to the actress. Chatterjee wrote, “Can't believe seeing this news. What should I write, it is not right to end your life like this. May your soul find peace wherever it is, which it could not find in this world, it could find in heaven. It is hurting a lot!”
Similarly, Anand also lamented on Dubey’s death and further mentioned, “I'd like to know the reason behind this.”
