Actor Kevin Spacey charged with 4 counts of sexual assault in UK

Hollywood actor and producer Kevin Spacey has been charged with four counts of sexual assault by a UK court, the Associated Press reported. The alleged incidents happened between March 2005 and August 2008, and one in western England in April 2013.

The crown prosecution said that Spacey has also been charged with causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent.

The 62-year-old double Academy award winner was also questioned by the British Police in 2019 about claims by several men that he had assaulted them.

But the cases of sexual assault against men isn’t new for Spacey. He has been accused several such crimes in the US.

SEXUAL ABUSE ALLEGATIONS

On October 29, 2017, actor Anthony Rapp said that in an inebriated state, Kevin Spacey had made sexual advances against him when he was 14.  Rapp had also shared this story with a magazine called The Advocate. But Spacey’s name was removed from the magazine to avoid legal issues. 

It was the same time around which Spacey’s career had come to a halt in 2017. 

Spacey wrote about the incident on Twitter. He said that he does not remember this but that if he had behaved as Rapp had asserted, he owed Rapp, “the sincerest apology for what could have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior”.

Not only Rapp, 15 other people came forward alleging similar abuse from Spacey. That included Boston anchor woman Heather Unruh, who said that Spacey had sexually assaulted his son.

Eight other people who worked with Spacey on The House of Cards alleged that he had sexually assaulted them.

A number of people who were contacted for verification of these claims said that Spacey 'groped and behaved in an inappropriate drunken behavior”.

IS KEVIN SPACEY GAY?

On the day Rapp had made allegation against Spacey, he came out apologising to Rapp. He said, “I have had relationships with both men and women. I have loved and had romantic encounters with men throughout my life, and I choose now to live as a gay man.”
