This Powerball jackpot started off at $20 million on August 6 and grew after nobody was able to win in the past few draws.
How much will the winner take home? According to Reuters, If the winner selects a lump sum cash payout, the value after the tax deduction will be $997.6 million. To take home the $2 billion sum, the winner would need to select annuity payouts over 29 years.
What is the Powerball lottery? Powerball is an interstate lottery system played in the 45 American states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. The game starts off with a value of 40 million dollars and every time when there is no winner, the value increases by 10 million dollars.
How is the game played? How is the winner decided?
There's no guarantee that a jackpot will be awarded in every drawing. If no one picks all six winning numbers, the jackpot rolls over to the next drawing and increases in value.
Each ticket costs around 2 or 3 dollars or Rs 165!
