K-pop boy band BTS members V, Jimin, and Jungkook recently paid a visit to an Indian cafe known as Cafe Chai, nestled in Jeju Island, South Korea. This cafe not only serves Indian cuisine but also offers a range of enjoyable activities for its patrons. Despite its classification as an Indian cuisine establishment, here's a surprising twist: the owner is South Korean!
The cafe's story begins when the owner embarked on a journey to India approximately 13 years ago. This transformative experience led her to embrace the identity of a Chaiwala, which she proudly embodies today.
On October 3, K-pop sensation V shared pictures on social media with the caption "Welcome Autumn."
In the 7th and 8th slides of his post, Cafe Chai in Jeju can be glimpsed.
Situated in Seogwipo, Jeju Island, South Korea, this Indian-inspired cafe is run by a South Korean family.
The fusion of Indian culture and flavors in this cafe has a fascinating backstory.
Their cafe bio playfully reads, "I'm sorry. The owner is sometimes lazy, so the door is closed occasionally. The closing time is a bit random."
Interestingly, the owner is known as Khushi on Instagram, although her Korean name remains undisclosed.
Their Facebook page regularly shares updates about the cafe's activities, along with the owner's blog entries.
The cafe, which opened its doors in 2012, is now 11 years old.
While South Korea has its share of Indian-inspired cafés, what sets Café Chai apart is its authenticity and the sense of home it offers to all who visit.
This café has garnered popularity among locals and adventurous explorers alike, thanks to its rustic ambiance. Even famous idols such as V, Jimin, and Jungkook couldn't resist making a visit.
