Travelling is always a good idea (unless you are stuck at the airport for hours and don't know how to navigate the crisis - here's help). And when you're travelling, there's always the question of where to stay: a hotel or an Airbnb (although Airbnb seems to be grappling with numerous problems).
If you're the Airbnb kinds, here are some crazy options you would want to try.
In June 2022, Airbnb announced that it will offer 100 people $100,000 (10 million dollars) to create unforgettable stays. For that, they needed to fill up forms explaining their crazy design ideas. However, Airbnb already has some crazy places to stay...
1. The Potato in Idaho
If you've ever wanted to feel like Spongebob, this Airbnb comes quite close by incorporating a vegetable as the house itself. You can stay at this gigantic 6-ton replica of a potato, which has been transformed into a giant potato by micro-property developer Kristie Wolfe. Wolfe has helped Airbnb create several unique properties. This 'potato' has been hollowed out and turned into an Airbnb in Boise, Idaho, US.
You can stay a night there for $200 (Rs 16,500)!
2. Hobbit House, US
For Lord Of The Ring enthusiasts, this property has made all their Hobbit dreams a reality, and they can finally experience what it's like to be Frodo Baggins! The property in Orondo, Washington, United States, provides the most accurate experience of what it is like to stay in Middle Earth!
However, the prices begin at $400 per night (Rs 33,000), making it a pricey, realistic experience for fans.
3. An Elephant, US
Lucy the Elephant is one of the most well-known Jersey Shore attractions. This, however, was converted into an Airbnb, including big stairs and a massive room.
The cost of this "once-in-a-lifetime, amazing experience" is $6,500 (Rs 5,31,700).
The proceeds benefit the Save Lucy Committee, a non-profit group that cares for and operates the iconic elephant.
4. Earthship, Mexico
This Airbnb accommodation in Mexico makes you feel like you're in a spaceship movie like The Martian or Interstellar. This could also allow you to get a sense of what it's like to live on a space station. The cost is $277 (about Rs 22,700) a night.
5. Flying Saucer, UK
With a sticker price of more than £459.70 (Rs 45,000) for two nights, if you want to live in a flying saucer and experience 'life in another dimension', this is the place for you to stay at.
