A $640 million US lottery has no winners. What now?
People buy lottery tickets in the hopes of winning something, but have you ever heard of a reward worth more than half a billion dollars? One lucky winner of this US multi-jurisdictional lottery game is about to get very lucky and is going to win the prize.
America is one of the few countries which loves gambling and in fact, various government and big corporate organisations organise high-level lotteries in which some lucky players get a chance to win millions of dollars. For instance, the recently organised Powerball lottery winner took home a winning prize of 2 billion dollars! '
Mega Millions, another lottery system which is pretty similar to Powerball, is also famous for high return prizes for the winner (when I say high, I mean, extremely, extremely high). As of Wednesday, the current prize stands at 640 million dollars.
The tickets, which are sold at mere $2, started selling from October 14, and there have been over 20 drawings held since then, but there have been no winners for the jackpot prize yet.

The record Mega Millions jackpot is more than $1.5 billion, won in 2018, and a jackpot surpassing $1.3 billion was won in Illinois in July.
What is Mega Million lottery and how it played? Mega Millions is a multi-jurisdictional lottery game available in 45 states, the district of Columbia, and the United States Virgin Islands. It was first starred in 2002.
- Players may pick six numbers from two separate pools of numbers - five different numbers from 1 to 70 (the white balls) and one number from 1 to 25 (the gold Mega Ball) - or select Easy Pick/Quick Pick. You win the jackpot by matching all six winning numbers in a drawing.
- Drawings for the number takes place every Tuesday, Friday and holidays once it starts every year in the beginning of the October.
