How Union minister Satyapal Singh who says Darwin was wrong had Twitter in splits

Dr Satyapal Singh is the minister of state for human resource development.

As inheritors of the civilisation that invented aircraft and plastic surgery, it is deplorable that we Indians have come to believe everything the West peddles in the name of “scientific knowledge”. The BJP, however, is now here to restore Bharat’s pride, and as one of the architects of this brave new world, Union minister Satyapal Singh has cautioned us against Charles Darwin.

Dr Singh’s portfolio: the minister of state for human resource development.

Before the anti-Bharat elements dismiss him as another wayward child of the Sangh, let us remind you that Singh is a former IPS officer, has an MSC and MPhil in Chemistry from Delhi University, an MBA degree in Strategic Management from Australia, and an MA in Public Administration, including PhD on the Naxalite movement.

While all he had done was point out the lack of empirical evidence in Darwin’s work – it is not called “theory” of evolution for nothing, people – Singh’s comments generated some negativity, and he later defended himself, making clear he was not some “arts background” man.

“Darwin's theory is being challenged the world over. Darwinism is a myth. If I'm making a statement I can't make it without a basis... I am a man of science, I'm not coming from Arts background... I have completed my PhD in Chemistry from Delhi University," he told NDTV.

In the past, this man of scientific temper has demanded to know how many men would be willing to marry a woman who turned up to her wedding in jeans.

On Twitter, while Singh’s comments did find some supporters, they also led to several hypotheses on the evolution of the BJP.
