On Dravid's birthday, an unknown legend

Legend has it that in Bangalore and Karnataka cricket, it wasn't uncommon to say, “You're a very down to Dravid, guy” instead of “You're a very down to earth guy”. Another legend from India's 2011 tour of England goes like this: Rahul Dravid had been adjudged caught behind by umpire Simon Taufel. After a quick word with Tendulkar, Dravid decided against a referral.

Here's what Dravid had to say: "As soon as I got back to the dressing room I told the guys I had to see the replay. I wanted to know where I had touched it. I could never have imagined it was a shoelace.”

Legend has it that part of Dravid's preparation for the next Test at The Oval was to bat without shoelaces – in hawai chappals. Happy Birthday, legend.
